Microprocessors (MPU) and Microcontrollers(MCU)
Computer's central processing unit (CPU) is called the microprocessors (MPU), a microprocessor incorporates the functions of a CPU on a single integrated circuit or a few integrated circuits. It has control of the whole computer, generates a control signal to the appropriate components for control and perform the appropriate actions.
programmable device that uses digital data as input and provides results as an output once it processes the input according to instructions stored in its memory. Microprocessors use sequential digital logic as they have internal memory and operate on numbers and symbols represented in the binary numeral system. Commonly referred to as 16-bit, 32-bit machines is the microprocessor in your computer's internal data bus width of which CPU can be operated at the number of binary digits. Current CPU is 64-bit, that is, one can transfer 64-bit binary number.
They are designed to perform arithmetic and logic operations that make use of data on the chip. Applications for microprocessors: These include DVD players, cellular telephones, household appliances, car equipment, toys, light switches and dimmers, electrical circuit breakers, smoke alarms, battery packs, car keys, power tool and test instruments, etc.
Microcontrollers (MCU) was also referred to a single-chip micro-controller, is active components. It is a ROM (read-only memory), RAM memory, CPU, I/O (input/output interfaces) are integrated on a single chip microcomputer that are combined in one chip to control for different applications.
Here comes programmable microcontrollers continuously research and development with a 4-bit, 8-bit, till now 16-bit, 32-bit or 64-bit. applications range is wide range such automatically controlled devices including power tools, toys, implantable medical devices, office machines, engine control systems, appliances, remote controls and other types of embedded systems.
